auburn? psh. fight on!

23-0, baby! that’s all i gotta say…..SC better be ranked no. 4 or 5 in the next poll…because we kicked serious ass….we got the hardest game out of the way and i think the rest of the season will be awesome….

….which is why all of us are already thinking….NEW ORLEANS, BABY! sugar bowl, here we come.

so europe is definitely out of the picture. but a bowl game would kick ass. and i’ve never been to new orleans. and if this trip is anything like the orange bowl trip, then it will be crazy….

man, this fall is going to kick ass….sc is good (finally)….i am going to kick ass in my fantasy football league….and i am going to win money in our high school football pool….hell yeah….

stupid rational thinking.

so europe might be on hold. *sigh* it’s okay. ed brought up the point that SC will probably go to a bowl game…and we all want to go of course…because we know they’ll be national champions and go to new orleans….so that will take care of the partying and all….

as edgar put it, “damn edward and his good points.” well, i guess ed’s smarter than all of us.

i still want to go to europe. but maybe that will come later. i am sort of broke after all.

otherwise, not a whole lot going on…i have the day off today (whee!). went and made a big grocery run today…so now our freezer is super full…barely enough space to fit everything in it…but at least we have food now and i won’t starve. and i can actually?bring microwaveable stuff to work…and spend less on ordering food out.

i also had my first soccer practice today…and nearly keeled over. it was so freakin’ hot and humid. everyone is upset at our rule changes, including myself…i don’t understand why they won’t let 6 and 7 year olds play with goalkeepers…it’s kind of stupid. now all my kids who i had last year will have to get used to playing without a keeper…*sigh*…it’s a national rule change…so i’m sure i’m not the only one unhappy….i’m sure other coaches in the league aren’t too keen. but whatever. my team will kick ass. they’re all good kids. half of them can score. it’ll be sweet.

i guess i’ll take off now….usc and auburn will be on tv soon….usc will start its march to new orleans….hell yeah!

46 days until the chicago trip….at least i have some sort of vacation to look forward to….

the netherlands?

i love having spontaneous friends.

edgar and i were talking on IM earlier on tuesday, just about random stuff. and so he brings up the fact that while he was in vegas, he and some other people were talking about other party places in other countries…like amsterdam and spain….and he says that he asked nop if she wanted to go to amsterdam….and she was like, half-serious.

i, on the other hand, was like, “i’ll totally go with you.” edgar asked if i was serious. hell yeah, i was serious.

and just like that, here we are planning a trip to amsterdam, hoping to go either in january or february. boom. i’m stoked.

we don’t care if it’s just us two. we’ll have a blast. we’ll have a crazy fun time. it might not be amsterdam…might wind up being london because it’s cheaper, but at least it’s a chance to go to europe. it’ll be sweet.

i started tuesday without any thoughts of going overseas, and i end it thinking about a vacation.

life is cool like that sometimes.

um, what a party.

i have one word to say:WHOA! DAMN!

(okay, that’s two words, but whatever.)

i heard about edgar’s wild and crazy adventure in vegas this weekend….he was there for austria’s bachelor party….and i was like, DAMN! crazy ass boy. it sounded almost…..well, never mind. i can’t say it. this is a family environment. LOL! but it sounded like a great time. if i had a bachelorette party that good, it would be sweet. or i’d get into a lot of trouble. and be really broke. damn….I WANT A PARTY LIKE AUSTRIA’S!

unfortunately, none of my girl friends are as crazy as edgar. i need crazy friends. the crazier your girl friends are, the better your bachelorette party will be. you know? more drinking, stripping, the whole deal. HELL YEAH! a return to the really crazy days….um, yeah. i guess ed will get a good party from edgar….damn….i need a female edgar! see, i would be the one making it all crazy for my friends….but no one will quite reciprocrate that way….or maybe someone will surprise me….anyway….

sometimes i wish i’d known edgar and ed while i was still in school. then usc would have been way more fun. not that it wasn’t fun or anything to begin with. the drinking and hanging out and doing fun stuff would have just multiplied. well, then again, i would have held them back out of bars until my senior year….like what happened when i first met edgar and jb and cook and josue in tucson….edgar knows what i’m talking about. to this day, i still feel bad about it….those guys made a pretty big sacrifice for ed. ’cause we all know how important alcohol is….

but those guys are great. of course ed is great. but i like all his friends. edgar’s the best. we probably would have gone to basketball games in school and gotten all crazy in the stands and shit. damn.

i’m convinced that i was born at the wrong time. i should have been older, dammit. all my friends have always been older than me. oh well. i dealt with the hand i was given. but it’s kind of fun to wonder about how different things could have been if i was older. or if i’d known the people i know now when i was back in school. wow. that would have been fun. and crazy. and maybe i would have flunked out of school. or at least been hung over a lot. at least most of my classes started at 2 p.m. then…..hahaha!

ah, the good old days. now i feel like going drinking sometime this week…..

thisclose to the u.s. open …

it’s been a long couple of days. i didn’t get a lot of sleep on friday when i came home from work, then i had to wake up early saturday to go to new york for some tennis stuff. the train was so damn crowded, but somehow i fell asleep.

but i got to the u.s. tennis center without incident. let me tell you, that place is pretty cool. i’m a casual observer of tennis, but there’s something about being at the site of a Grand Slam that, i don’t know, is awesome. i saw some famous tennis players floating around (like mark philippousis), many of them practicing since the u.s. open begins on monday. the only really annoying thing was that it took me 45 minutes to get a credential because they were only letting one or two people in at a time into the credentialing area. i stood in line in the hot sun, complaining along with other fellow reporters. i felt like i was trying to see the president or something. it was ridiculous.

otherwise, everything was fine. the smash match was good, the world teamtennis people were cool, and i got back home to delaware with enough time to spare and watch “iron chef.”

but now i’m freakin’ tired. and i desperately need to clean my house, which is a minor disaster. *sigh* and my list of errands just keeps growing…..

six more days until usc’s season opener against auburn…woohoo!….i get to watch them on national tv….

radiohead in camden!

so ed and i went and saw radiohead monday night in camden. RADIOHEAD IS FUCKIN’ AWESOME! ed always said they were great live, and i’d never seen them live, and damn, they were awesome. seeing thom yorke move his head around like he’s got tourette’s is already worth the price of admission. they played mostly new stuff, but they played all the good old stuff. like “paranoid android” and “karma police.” and a couple of things from “the bends.” (though i didn’t get to hear “black star” or “bulletproof”…so sad.)

we had lawn seats, which was okay even though i couldn’t see jackshit. not that being able to see really mattered. my feet hurt, though, from all the standing. and the crowd was pretty entertaining in itself — lots of pot smokers and crazy dancers and some couple making out in front of us like they were in a hotel room. damn!

i guess that’s about it. i have to run a boatload of errands now. *sigh*

old friends … and cats.

grrr….i had this all written out….and i lost it….i hate it when that happens.

i’ve been contacted by some old, old, old friends lately, thanks to those websites where you put together a list of all your friends and you find out who’s friends with who and all that. in the span of 24 hours, i’ve gotten messages from someone from my old flip crew (kat, who i didn’t realize spelled her name with a K) and some old high school people. that’s totally cool. i love hearing from people you haven’t thought of in years.

life hasn’t been all that interesting lately….just work, work, work. there’s nothing wrong with that. i actually have to go to new york this saturday as a last-minute fill-in to cover a tennis event. (and i thought i was done with reporting.) oh, well. there’s been no drinking lately because i haven’t had a weekend day off. sigh. at least ed and i are going to?a radiohead concert in camden tomorrow, which should be fun.

and because i’m bored, i’m posting pictures of my cats.

she looks kind of like a rat here, but this is my kitten daisy. she drives me nuts because she gets into everything.

clubbin’.

friday night was tons of fun. i went to baltimore with pete, his roommate bill, and this chick josephine, who is a marketing intern at UD. we headed to bar baltimore, danced the night away, got some drinks — the usual deal. bar outings with pete are always fun because a) i don’t feel like a jackass dancing next to him; and b) he always has something outrageous to say.

lots of highlights from friday:

  • pete got into a dance-off on a platform with some really bad white-boy dancer/wannabe breaker. josephine and i wished we had a camera because it was so damn funny.
  • they played “in the club,” which of course reminded pete and i of the felicia incident in norfolk back in march. all you need to know is that little white boy pete (all 5-5 of him) ended up dancing with the hofstra women’s basketball coach, who is this 6-2 black woman. it’s still one of the greatest club incidents ever.
  • they played “rock your body,” which of course reminded me of edgar.
  • there were lots of fat white chicks and bad white-boy dancers to make fun of.
  • we told these two drunk chicks that they were parked on the fourth floor of the parking structure when we didn’t know who they were and didn’t really know where they were parked.

so it was a lot of fun. i need to go clubbing more often. i think pete and i are planning to go to philly sometime because he’s never been there. and we’ll bring josephine too. she’s really cool. too bad i won’t be hanging around UD anymore.

i got home at 3 a.m. and was so sweaty and nappy that i needed to shower. i still managed to get up in time to go to a bbq for our interns at noon at jason’s house. that was fun too — lots of free food, some beer, nerf baseball in the backyard and martin’s 6-year-old kid randy wrestling all of us. fun, fun, fun.

now i’m at work. not as much fun, but oh well.

stupid missing box.

so i get home at 12:30 a.m. from work and whaddaya know — my missing package is sitting on my front doorstep. i guess the people whose house the package was delivered to took the initiative to drive it over to my house. how nice of them. not to mention smart. yay.

this still doesn’t change the fact that UPS is a bunch of idiots. the correct address was on the package. sheesh….

August 7, 2003 on 12:46 am | Comments Off

damn you, ups!

i hate UPS. (that should make edgar happy, as he works for fedex.)

but seriously, those bastards at UPS are idiots. i was expecting a package today, a keyboard i won on ebay for my new sony clie pda that i was totally looking forward to using. unfortunately….the bastards delivered to the wrong address….though i’m sure i gave the guy the right address when i paid him. i don’t know how this happened. they delivered to a totally wrong address — same house number, totally different street. grrrr. and when i called them, they said they couldn’t do anything until i contacted the shipper and told him to call UPS. how retarded is that? some yokel in my neighborhood has my frickin’ keyboard! i want my keyboard. grrrr….maybe i should just go over to that house (if i can find it) and ask for my package. not only am i pissed that UPS screwed up, but i’m more pissed that their customer service sucks. at least i know the box wasn’t stolen off my front doorstep. now that would have really sucked.

enough of my UPS rant.

i am at work right now, ready to nod off. i should have napped. didn’t have time to. remind me never to go to work sleepy — i’ve missed a ton of mistakes in stories already….
