coldplay!
i went and saw coldplay with ed in mountain view last night…
first, the bad:
- getting to shoreline ampitheatre was a logistical nightmare. the parking situation sucked. lots of sitting in traffic. granted, we left late, but everyone and their mother was still trying to park and get in at 9 p.m. it was crazy.
that was really the only bad thing. of course, the lawn was all jammed so we had to stand kind of off to the side…and there were tons of tall people in front of me. but we got into the place just before coldplay started playing.
the show itself was freaking awesome. they are awesome live. all their live versions of songs are pretty cool. my favorites were “the scientist” (because a few thousand people singing in unison just sounds pretty damn cool) and “clocks” (because chris martin sped up the instrumental at the end and it sounded almost like techno — i didn’t know you could play a piano that fast). during “yellow,” a bunch of huge yellow balloons were released and people were bopping them around.
overall, a jolly good show. i’d really like to go and see more shows this year. i had a great time, but of course, it was a looooooooooong drive back. *sigh*

you know how the old joke is that how in L.A. (or most urban parts of California, for that matter), no one cares any more when a car alarm goes off because everyone has them and there are always about five billion false alarms? well, that’s true. and unfortunately, there is some idiot who lives or parks?regularly on my street that apparently has a super-sensitive car alarm because it goes off every time someone drives down the street. (and a lot of trucks drive by here, too.) and the stupid thing goes off every 15 friggin’ minutes or so. it’s ridiculous. get your damn alarm fixed. it woke me up at 5 a.m. one day. and i’ve been awake for at least three hours today and it’s gone off like five times already. aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhh.
idiots.
(and of course, here i am hoping it’s not my alarm. but i’m pretty sure it’s not because i know what mine sounds like. and this phenomenon has been happening only recently. why would my car act up only now if it was mine? but i digress.)
i am flying to LA tonight. woohoo. gonna see a phillies-dodgers game on thursday with kim. (i haven’t gone to dodger stadium in quite some time.) i could have gone with kim to the register to say hi to some folks i used to work with, but the timing didn’t work out. damn. maybe next time.
i am also hoping to go to roscoe’s on thursday. maybe with edgar. i want me some chicken and waffles.
i also want some norm’s. mmmm.
and i get to see ganita sometime. i miss my cat.
August 10, 2005 on 4:13 pm | Comments Offnothing like drunkeness …
wow….i got pretty drunk last night….stumbled to a 24-hour joint to eat after the bar….got home at 3 a.m……man, i haven’t done that in a very long time.
good times, though.
i am making friends in sacramento. there are lots of good people at work. i hang with the younger set. i think going out on thursday is going to become a semi-regular thing. last night, it was just melody, nick and i….it was nick’s last night at the bee ’cause schoolwork and things at sac state are going to suck up all his time….so we went to a bar in his honor. had way too many sierra nevadas. (yeah, we upgraded from our usual pitchers of pabst blue ribbon….ha!) it was a lot of fun. we went to a denny’s-like joint afterward.
i’ve been in town about a month and really like it. i have found lots of things to do. i’ve committed to going to a couple of dance studios. i took the plunge and decided to take spanish classes (and a modern dance class) at sac city college. i’m a student again! hahahaha. i’m gonna start playing softball (and hoping i don’t totally suck) with some bee people, like melody. (hence, thursday night drinking.) so, things are looking good.
i only wish ed were here. then it would all be perfect.
and one final thought: sacramento needs a waffle house! like, really badly. *sigh*
