the new year’s report so far?

- no rave, no seeing death cab. bummer.

- no rose bowl party due to dispute. bummer again. i may have to see if maureen’s doing anything to celebrate the rose bowl.

man, disputes suck. although the party i side with (who shall remain nameless, ’cause i’m not about to hurt anyone’s feelings) has a legitimate reason to be pissed. or at least i think so. but that’s just me.

anyhow, enough about that before i get into trouble.

ed gets back from LA on tuesday. woohoo! and i have an elopement to look forward to … except i have to finish an elopement/post-christmas gift in less than three days. d’oh!

yay!

so i got back from petaluma tonight … rain kind of interfered with plans, but i visited mark! woohoo!

i woke up pretty late on wednesday, so i actually didn’t get to petaluma until 1:30 or so … and i had planned on being there at 11. ha! i think i finally rolled out of bed at 11. but anyway ….

we hung out at mark’s with his sister jessica, did a little shopping in downtown petaluma, then headed home because it was raining like crazy. shopping was productive, though — i found this book of pulitzer prize-winning photos that i have seriously been looking for the last five years. so i wait five years … and find it in an indie bookstore in petaluma. bizarre.

mark and i were supposed to go down to SF with two of his cousins and do a little bar-hopping … but rain put the kibosh on that. instead, we wound up playing some charade-type games with jessica and mark’s cousin jeanette. games are a mark staple. they are usually lots of fun.

today brought more rain, so we ended up staying home and watching “team america: world police.” that movie is so damn funny … and so damn wrong … but that’s what makes it so great.

i was totally glad to see mark. i hadn’t seen him since the wedding. and we had a blast.

the new year’s saga is also still ongoing. apparently, a dispute may threaten our plans. and it may interfere with the rose bowl party. noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

we’ll have to see about this …

rain, rain go away

i like rain. really. but not in monsoon-like amounts. it is miserable out there. blah.

i am going to be involved in an elopement. no, i’m not eloping. but someone i know is. woohoo! apparently, a date has been set … and i didn’t even hear about it firsthand. sketchy, i know, but the circumstances surrounding this require secrecy. but there will be pictures … eventually.

we are also still trying to figure out new year’s plans. the elopement won’t interfere. but now it’s a matter of deciding whether to drive to LA or what.

lastly, only one week until christmas … and i am no closer to getting presents done.

luckily, i didn’t have to go through a whole lot of phone tag to figure this out but …

…. i will finally get to see mark!

no, there’s probably not going to be any castro-hopping involved, but no matter. all that matters to me is that i get to hang out with him. and probably sing a lot at his house. i’m just going to go up to petaluma next wednesday and we’ll figure it out from there. maybe we’ll even make a trip to the novato cheese factory.

ah, the miracles of medicine

or theraflu, at least.

i had gone to bed on wednesday night feeling kind of crappy. and sure enough, i woke up thursday with that general hit-by-a-truck feeling. and a fever. argh. i hate being sick. but some theraflu fixed me up … except i slept about 90 percent of the day. no matter. i was fine by 8 p.m. and was in for some chappelle viewing. pretty cool stuff.

robert even came by after his shift at work. i haven’t seen him in forever.

mel, tim and robert went to the corner afterward, but i was too tired. the drugs were starting to hit me again.

i’m still not feeling 100 percent (um, sleep would be a very nice thing right now), but at least i’m not super ill.

there are a mere nine days until christmas and i’m done with, oh, maybe 30 percent of my gifts. *&*(%&*%$#!

the epic super-duper crazy ass nfl suicide pool is over!!!!

and the winner is … jorge. crazy dude. you know, $220 will go a long way in tulare.

so i’m sitting at work, watching the waning minutes of the dolphins-chargers game … i’m rooting for the chargers because they’re my pick in my redo pool and they’re my second team anyway. (always a steelers fan first. always.) it occurs to me near the end, as i’m lamenting my elimination (again) that the chargers are also todd’s pick. and that the pool could come to an epic end. and it does. holy crap!

jorge just squeaked by though because the redskins barely beat the stupid arizona cardinals. i’m thinking a tie would have sucked. but no, he gets to walk away solo with that cash.

wow. the end of the epic pool kind of depresses me. not to mention me being eliminated in my other pool.

my fantasy team is also in the tank. *sigh*

maureen reports that she sold her four rose bowl tickets?for a whopping $4,100!!!!!

holy crap!

she said that texas fans bought them. figures. they haven’t sniffed a championship in almost 40 years … and they’re not going to this time, either.

i know, the picutre is kind of blurry. blah. it really looks much better in person. i swear.

funny that i finished his hat first because it’s technically not even a christmas present. it’s to replace the hat that danny lost (while stumbling around campus before the fresno state game, i might add). i didn’t have to get this to him until january. but it was my first request. so i filled it.

i have my entire christmas list all laid out in my head. lots of work to do. ugh. at least everything (well, okay, like 99 percent of it) will be handmade. cool.

and of course i’m not revealing my christmas list. you just have to hope i like you enough to give you a present …

i just found out a happy piece of news on monday afternoon. but, i am unable to share it. it made me very happy, nonetheless.

as i’ve said before, it’s all about the small things in life. and friends. and friends’ good news.

rose bowl, baby!

’tis official. usc will play for a title in the rose bowl. against texas. woohoo. the hype surrounding this national championship game will be ridiculous … and i’m tired of it already. it’s 16 billion times worse than the hype that surrounds the super bowl every year. just play the damn game already.

ed and i will be in LA for the festivities … but not for the game itself. we’re too poor to afford championship tickets. and the party should be at austria’s house unless he wins a lottery to get rose bowl tickets … so i hope he doesn’t win. not to be mean or anything. ha!

on another note, the epic nfl pool still rolls on … and so does the redo pool, with all three of its participants still intact. holy cow.
