coldplay at arco!
just got back from watching coldplay at arco arena …
the show kicked ass! (as usual. they put on a good show.)
but one thing happened that totally pissed me off! someone threw something at me. it might have been a drink or a cup of water or something like that. it was hard. at least i didn’t get drenched. but if i had turned around and found out who it was, i was ready to go all ron artest on them. (appropriate, since he’s in sacto now.)
but i digress.
the only other crappy thing is that arco is old. and therefore, there’s not a lot of legroom in there. dude, i felt like a sardine in my seat. but the show was cool.
the set was almost the same as the one in san francisco. but there were some twists, which was cool.
highlights:
- chris martin broke a guitar string in the middle of the show.|
- they played “don’t panic,” which is a kick-ass song despite the fact it is only about two minutes long.
- they played some brand-new song that i’d never heard.
- at the end, when chris martin ran through the crowd, he wound up about 12 rows in front of our section.
it was crazy!
tons o’ fun though.
fiona apple also opened. she was okay. i think the sound guy kinda screwed up her mic at the beginning of her set. she sounded like she needed a ricola badly. and ed suspected she was drunk. (she was kind of incoherent while blabbering in between songs.) and she didn’t play “sleep to dream.” bummer.
now i’m tired.

i found out rizza is going to germany this summer to watch some world cup games with her mike … and she’s hoping to live in japan for a little while with him if he gets accepted to some english-teaching program there.
that got me thinking about the cool trips i really want to take sometime.
i really, really, really, really want to go back to montreal. i miss montreal.
but these are the dream trips i want to take, in order:
1. the canada extravaganza.
2. japan.
3. some spanish-speaking country where i can test-drive some spanish (spain? argentina? peru with edgar?).
the canada thing is something i’ve wanted to do just about forever. it would be a trip across the entire country. it would start in vancouver and meander by train through all the major cities: edmonton, alberta, regina, winnipeg, toronto, ottawa, montreal, quebec. maybe even newfoundland (fish!) and prince edward’s island if there was time. but how sweet would that be? it would probably take two weeks or so. but i want to do it really badly.
ed wants to go to japan. i think japan is cool. i want me some real japanese food. i also haven’t been to japan in about 15 years. i think it would be cool to experience the country as an adult.
and the last trip is really me wanting to do something exotic. i would go to argentina just for the beef. beef, beef, beef! i’d go to puerto rico, but well, it’s still a u.s. territory. the minimum requirement is that it at least require a passport to go to said country. it also can’t be a third-world country, and there’s gotta be a major city in which people speak at least? some english!
of course, there is plenty in this very country that i would like to see (uh, the grand canyon, for one). and i have about 12 more states to set foot in before i can claim the entire 50 …

okay, so ed and i went to our new house today. it’s looking pretty good — the inside is painted, the cabinets and doors are in, there are actual outlets in the wall, there’s even some tile. it looks good. basically, it needs carpeting and the tiles need to be put on the roof and stuff like that. cool.
but check out what i saw inside one of the closets:

dude, it was kinda cool. ed thought i’d be all squeamish and scared of it, but i was like, “well, it’s dead. if it were alive, i might feel differently.” but the poor mouse. it even got painted over. i’m sure they’lll take it out eventually, but it was a trip to see some kind of preserved mouse just laying there.
and now, here is a picture of the outside of our house:

pretty sweet.
i have to do a really big update, but that will happen …. eventually.

super stoked!
over the last couple of days at the studio, some people have given me ideas for selling my handmade stuff. well, i think i’ve hit the motherlode.
i’ve got a potential hookup with the dance studio, where i would sell some dance-related things (bags, hair accessories, things like that). the studio would take a portion of my proceeds (it is kind of like a fundraiser, after all). i could potentially sell a bunch of things and make some cash, plus my shop could get some exposure. how sweet would that be?
now i gotta get cracking on some samples. i wish i’d brought some of my regular yarn to work …
January 27, 2006 on 4:15 pm | Comments Offthis still sucks.
a day later, and i think most of Trojan Nation is in mourning.
a friend of mine put it best when she said, “i feel like i’ve been dumped by my boyfriend or something.” i think that about sums it up.
the tailgate krew e-mail chain has already started, and i think that as pissed off and disappointed as most of us are, we still have some perspective.
we have two national titles.
four BCS bowl appearances in four years.
we won 34 effing games in a row.
none of that can be taken away.
my contribution to the e-mail chain went something like this: all i have to do is remember what it was like when i was in school and i had to suffer through the entire paul hackett era.
it wasn’t so long ago that usc football had fallen off the map and we lamented the fact that we couldn’t win jackshit. we all got spoiled. so i guess in that perspective it’s not all so bad.
but still, it sucks. i felt like i was 13 years old all over again and watching game 7 of the 1994 nba finals … and watching john starks go 2 for 18 and watching the knicks lose to the rockets. ugh. it was heartbreaking then. it’s heartbreaking now.
and yet another team from the state of texas has joined the legion of teams i hate with every bone in my body. i hate the houston rockets (yes, even 13 years later, i still hate them to death). i hate the dallas cowboys (arrogant. plus they beat the steelers in the 1996 super bowl — can’t remember which roman numeral that was). now the longhorns.
*sigh*
i really did have an eventful and crazy week, but i will have to blog about that later. meanwhile, i will lament my alma mater.

i’m just devastated.
three years ago, i was in miami with the krew and we watched miami’s 34-game winning streak end against ohio state.
three years later, we watch usc lose the title game to texas.
i have far more to say and talk about, but all the air has been let out of my sails. i can’t say much else.
not looking forward to going to work.
this is pretty shitty.
