my kind of day.

i have to say, monday was my idea of a good day. the lowdown:

- i had the day off.
- i watched the simpsons movie with ed.
- i bought a new ipod.
- i hung out with lisa, katie and judy.
- i ate at a good italian joint.
- lisa and i had a very good bartender at said italian joint.
- the rest of the night involved bars and adult beverages and beer.

yeah, it was sweet.

the simpsons movie … big thumbs-up. it’s funny, of course, and there are lots of visual gags. and those folks can still write a decently structured story. my screenwriting teacher used the show as a teaching tool for the seven rules of writing comedy, and there’s a good reason why. so see the damn movie already.

and yes, i really did buy a new ipod. 30 gigs. video. oooh. shiny. my old one was kind of on the fritz — the battery was iffy, it had frozen a couple of times, and so on and so forth. and while i felt awful guilty about dropping the cash on the new one, i like it. my old mini will have a useful purpose, i hope. i think i might use it to tote around those ridiculously large graphic projects i produce at school on a regular basis.

and i really don’t have to explain beer.

tomorrow, i’m off to san francisco to chill out. woohoo.

oh, internets.

so i jumped wickedly late on the facebook bandwagon only because i realized more and more of my cousins were on it. i resisted a long, long time, mainly because i really didn’t need another online thing to keep up with. rizza first invited me. then i found that glen and lee had them. and the cousin list grew longer and longer.

so i finally caved. i’m such a wuss.

but it’s great! the connections are so worth it. there’s nothing like keeping tabs on your cousins who are scattered practically everywhere.

but i also got a note from lovely dawn in philly. yay! i haven’t talked to her in forever. and bam, there’s a note from here in my inbox. rock on.

i only hope i can keep this all up. that’s a lot of people to catch up with, you know?

i wish …

… i was still on vacation. or maybe a permanent vacation. but i guess i would need millions of dollars. fat chance of that happening.

this is my third day back now and i am suffering from withdrawal. withdrawal of fun, maybe. or maybe withdrawal from free food. i ate a crapload on vacation. that’s the thing about relatives — they just feed and feed and feed you.

that, and i am suffering from person withdrawal. after all, we were around something like 15 people while in utah/idaho/jackpot.

oh well.

nothing else is new. i am already up to my ears in work.

i have a lot of tax classes to deal with.

i am jonesing to play poker. (i won something like $200 in jackpot. it would have been more if i didn’t press my luck and play another five hours of poker the last night.)

i am jonesing for some beers. and a big food party.

i also have some vacay photos i need to put up still but i am laaaaaaaaaaaaazy.

withdrawal sucks.

i am back from the busiest two weeks ever. first the fam, then a holiday trip to socal. crap.

lots of stuff happened. for real. but more on that later.

i was in la for the fourth of july and spent part of it here:

sign, again.

it was freakin’ awesome! this particular mart was in burbank.

for the full experience, check out the flickr set.

i just got back today and was already innundated with emails, requests, questions, and work. blah.

more about the mini-vacay when i recover. it also involved me falling into a lake. hysterical.

oh, and i took this funny photo after visiting the kwik-e-mart:

pict0364.JPG

it says “support the enemy here” on the LA Times coin slot. funny stuff.
