that rosebud girl
comings, goings, thoughts, whatever.
jenn-sanity.
(that’s insanity, if you know me well.)
the holiday shopping season is nearing, and while i’m pretty stoked about craft shows (i think i’m doing five in the next seven weeks … possibly more) and custom orders and potential sales, thinking about all of that in the grand scheme of the rest of life is, well, insane.
again, major events always seem to conspire to happen at the same time. because the ever-expanding to-do list is getting insanely long again:
- one custom bag order (which reminds me, i need to e-mail this person about it!)
- one super secret custom scarf order
- holiday contribution to the Sampler … because i haven’t done it in a while. and people getting your stuff is real nice.
- prep for at least five shows, including one that happens to be in new york
- school projects (did i mention i’m taking THREE design classes?)
- super enormous booklet design project (by the way, it has to be done by the 1st)
- ad design related to super enormous booklet project (um, also due on the 1st)
- super enormous cookbook design project for the sacramento craft mafia
- (relatively) small website project
- crazy amounts of promo for the shop and indie*galore — which reminds me … someone needs an ad from me … and my logo … like, yesterday … ack!
- needing to photograph about six new things that i’ve made so they can be 1) listed in my shops; 2) promoed on one of my billion blogs; 3) promoed on every social network i belong to (which seems like 10 billion)
- need to transfer the sacramento craft mafia’s tv appearance (on good day sacramento) from tivo to dvd and then need to edit it
- various other committees, projects and things i haven’t thought of yet but will probably get involved in because i’m kind of nuts
holy smokes.
i need about 10 clones.
of all those things, the promo stuff is really super time-consuming. i never really would have thought that. but it’s a lot of blogging (across something like, six blogs … thank goodness for copy and paste) and a lot of updating and a lot of logging on to 10 billion social networks, etc. and of course, i need to desperately update my shops. and i mean desperately. i was pretty good until about a week ago. and then i ran into the busy conundrum.
sometimes all i want to do is sit on my couch, turn off all electronics and pet the cats.
but then i’d probably do that for five minutes and feel the urge to do about 15 other things.
such is life.

like four years ago, fire is burning all around southern california, particularly in san diego county.
the san diego portion of our family reports that everyone is ok, and while fire isn’t expected to reach mira mesa, you just never know. like it was four years ago, it’s definitely burning all around them.
and i do know some folks in poway and fallbrook, so it’s probably pretty rough for them right now.
take a moment, reflect, and if you’re in a position to help, please do so and volunteer.
October 22, 2007 on 9:44 pm | Comments Offmy karma’s been run over.
reason no. 153,243 that this is just not my week:
so i take off this morning ’cause i’ve got my usual round of stuff to do. i’m heading downtown because i want to catch the train to sac city. i’m a bit low on gas, so i decide to stop by the gas station so i don’t have to do it at 1:30 a.m. or some ridiculous hour like that. i also decide i’m kinda hungry and could maybe use a snack from the convenience store.
so i get to the station, start filling up and have to get something out of my passenger side. i put my keys and wallet down on the seat (i know, i know, BAD IDEA!), do what i need to do and lock the door. i reach onto the seat and grab my wallet but not the keys.
door slams.
keys on front seat.
dammit!
i wind up having to go into the convenience story anyway, and luckily the ladies running the joint were really nice. i of course had locked my cell phone in the car too, so i had to borrow a telephone. i thought i had my AAA card on me and i didn’t, but one of attendants had one and let me borrow it so i could at least recall what the AAA phone number was.
AAA came in about 20 minutes and opened my door and i was still on time for my lab shift at sac city.
it still sucked.

October 7, 2007 on 12:24 pm | Comments Off15 minutes of fame.
so i find out yesterday that the sacramento craft mafia got an invite to be on good day sacramento. wednesday (tomorrow). 7 a.m.
holy crap!
it was kind of last minute, but it appears that a fair chunk of us will be there. i wanted to be there on tv, but the time was kind of a sticking point. morning and i don’t get along. and i need sleep. but after a couple of people looked at me like i was crazy for even CONSIDERING not going, i caved. sleep is overrated, anyway.
so, i’ll be on tv tomorrow. with maybe eight other mafiosas. i hope i don’t look sleepy. or crappy. i’ll be lucky if i can find matching socks or a comb tomorrow morning.
